Teen sensation's shock

Teenage soprano Charlotte Church had a bit of a shock last week when her former manager Jonathan Sharlit went to court to demand millions of Sterling Pounds in compensation for his dismissal. The case which was to last week in the High Court ended on the second day which was November 22. Both Charlotte Church and her ex-manager Jonathan Sharlit reached an out of court settlement. Reports suggest Charlotte's record label Song was not happy at bad publicity for the young star. Thus intervention from Song enabled both sides to sign a confidentiality agreement not to disclose anything but rumours afloat suggest Sharlit was to receive £2 million from Ms Church plus settlement of his legal fees.

A day earlier, 14-year-old Charlotte had released her 3rd album 'Dream The Dream' and switched on the Christmas lights on Oxford Shreet, London. She flies over to the US next to meet with President Clinton and switch on the Christmas tree lights at the White House.

The hottest movie to move across the Atlantic to the UK right now is "Charlie's Angels". The film based on the Seventies hit television stars Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lu and Drew Barrymore. As the movie had its royal premiere the single connected with the film 'Independent Women' by Destiny's Child was released. While the 3 girls were playing a role on the wide screen, 4 teenage girls were battling it out in the singles market. In the end Destiny's Child won their battle on the singles chart thus giving 'Independent Woman' the opportunity to be this week's No: 1 UK song.

Meanwhile as LeAnn Rimes 'Can't Fight The Moonlight', slipped a notch to No:2, the song had sold enough copies to be certified "Silver" by the BPI. In other words the former chart topping song had sold over 200,000 copies.

Craig David had another shot at the singles chart with his new track 'Walking Away'. The single checked into the chart at No: 3. Based on the rhythm of his previous releases, the song is taken from David's debut album 'Born To Do It'. In April this year Craig David came out on his own and went Imagestraight to the top of the chart with 'Fill Me In'. He was first introduced to us through the Artful Dodger huge hit 'Re-Rewind' in December last year. He also paired with Robbie Craig on the Artful Dodger's single 'Woman Trouble.'

It is not always that you can have a No: 1 song. That is the true world out there. Ronan Keating would have been expecting to score a hat trick with his new release. 'The Way You Make Me Feel'. Many of the press reviews were also projecting Keating's new single to do the needful. The song, a slow swayer was favourable. What perhaps went wrong was the video clip which showed Ronan singing his heart out - seated on top of a Bentley submerged in water. Now taking the dreadful floods, the rain etc., the English had to endure this autumn, then one would say the timing of the release was bad. Of course it also could be just coincidental. Still Ronan did secure a No: 6 position for his new song 'The Way You Make Me Feel'.

A few months ago the True Steppers burst on the charts with the vocal support of Victoria Beckham on the song 'Out of Your Mind'. It peaked at No: 2. The follow up titled 'True Step Tonight' featured the vocals of Brain Harvey of E 17 fame. The song has turned out to be a failure as it only managed to peak at No: 25 just outside the Top 20 that is published on this page today. The song falls into the same groove of 'Out of Your Mind" in terms of beat which tends be rather boring. So the market has essentially given it a thumbs down.

Sixties pop star Jonathan King was arrested for sexual assault of 3 young men. King was taken away to a Police station in Sussex on Friday November 24, where he was interviewed for around 3 hours and released on bail. Police reportedly found material at his London home including computers with incriminating evidence. Kings spokesman said that the 55-year- old ex-pop star will go about his work as usual. King first emerged on to the scene in 1965 with the song 'Everyone's Gone To The Moon' as the track peaked at No: 4. He had 6 Top 20 hits in all. In the Eighties he became a consultant to the music industry and producer of music awards and the UK section of the Eurovision contest.

Robbie Williams has apologised to his fans for his drunken behaviour. Robbie recently passed out at the MTV post show party. Well we know the reason, don't we? Robbie also announced a string of live shows for next year.

Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknell was questioned by Police after a 21-year-old girl made allegations of rape. The 40-year- old musician who 2 weeks ago attended his former girl friend Catherine Zeta-Jones marriage to Michael Douglas in New York was cleared of the allegations on Monday November 27, much to the relief of Hucknell.
