'Sura Pura Sara' New tele drama on Sirasa TV
'Sura Pura Sara' is a teledrama shot on location in the picturesque and remote hamlet "Baddegama" off Elpitiya in the Southern Province and revolves around simple village folk led by the "Arachchila." The feudal head, "Arachchila" is portrayed by veteran film actor Joe Abeywickrama. The others in the cast include Anton Jude, Sanath Wimalasiri, Nimanthi Porage, Sureni Senerath, Sunil Hettiarachchi, Edward Gunewardena, Vinoja Nilanthi, Miyuri Samarasinghe and Gihani Amarasena.

Sura Pura Sara is a story told in lighter vein, with lots of comic relief and is not dissimilar to the recent popular dramas "Sakisada Elias' and "Sabada Pabilis" and is directed by Chandraratne Mapitigama.

The story is based on the folk tale from the Old Sinhala Fables - "Gamarala Divayaloke Giya Heti" with an unexpected twist at the end.

Hethu Hamy is a farmer who earns his living by paddy cultivation. One morning he finds that some wild creature had eaten the paddy which had been ripe for harvesting. The village headman advises Hethu Hamy to keep watch in the paddy field so that he can nab the culprit. But the thief turns out to be an elephant. In an attempt to stop the elephant, Hethu Hamy clings on to its tail, but the elephant disappears with Hethu Hamy to heaven.

As predicted by an astrologer, Hethu Hamy returns home after seven years. But his people at home shun him, thinking that he is a ghost. Later he reveals how he hung on the elephant's tail and went to heaven, where he met his dead father who helped him. Hethu Hamy brings a drink from heaven called "Amurthaya" that prevents old age. He makes his whole family young by giving "Amurthaya". All the magical objects from heaven helps Hethu Hamy to become rich.

Many villagers including the village headman drink "Amurthaya" and after some time they start talking about their misdeeds. They expose their true characters.

Hethu Hamy says that sinners cannot go to heaven and therefore following his advice, the villagers avoid committing sinful deeds. After Hethu Hamy becomes young he is tempted to lead a sinful life and he commits a lot of mistakes.

After cultivating paddy he gets the idea of going to heaven again. When the elephant comes he clings on to the elephant, but the elephant kicks him off and says that sinners do not have a place in heaven.

Thereafter Hethu Hamy's wealth vanishes and he becomes the laughing stock in the village.

Commencing on June 13, Friday at 8.25 pm on Sirasa TV

Cabbie-turned-chauffeur Jimmy Tong (Jackie Chan) learns there is really only one rule, when you work for playboy millionaire Clark Devlin (Jason Isaacs): Never touch Devlin's prized tuxedo.

The popular Jackie Chan movie Tuxedo is now run to packed audiences at Liberty Cinema in Colombo. "The Tuxedo" stars Jackie Chan, the comedic action superstar who has more recently conquered the worldwide box office in such films as "Rush Hour 1 and 2" and "Shanghai Noon".

Starring opposite Chan is Jennifer Love Hewitt ("Heartbreakers"). The film also stars Jason Isaacs ("The Patriot"), Debi Mazar ("The Insider"), Ritchie Coster ("The Thomas Crown Affair"), Romany Malco ("The Chateau"), Mia Cottet (upcoming "Phone Booth") and Peter Stormare ("Minority Report").

The action comedy marks the feature film directorial debut of Kevin Donovan, who made his name as an award-winning commercial director.
