'Bistro Latino':
Best of Tapas,Tex-Mex and Salsa Located on
Duplication Road, Colombo's hip dining hub, Bistor Latino, the Tapas
and Wine Bar is the newest kid on the fast growing culinary block
of Colombo. Bistro Latino, as the name denotes is a small, informal
restaurant/bar specializing in Latin food with a definite emphasis
on Mexican cuisine and the popular Spanish "Tapas" and
of course good wine from the more popular wine regions of the world. Bright and
bold colours, an amazingly decorative ceiling, mirrored walls, wood
trimmings and a well-stocked bar with all brands of popular alcoholic
beverages along with an extensive wine list makes it cozy, yet hip.
The music played
is exclusively Latin - with an abundance of Salsa and Meriongue
and a dance floor to entice the nimble toed. Tex-Mex favourities
- the Enchiladas, the Burritos, Fajitas, Tacos and Nachoes along
with Tortilla chips with a choice of dips are definitely the house
specialties and should be on everybody's must-try list. Chilli Con
Carne, Char-grilled chicken, Tenderloin Latino and Prawns Al Forno
are just but a few of the other truly mouth-watering culinary surprises
on the menu. To finish off the meal on a sweet note, try the signature
dessert, the Bistro Banana Fritters, or the deliciously rich rum
slice with rum infused vanilla bean sauce. Diners can also look
forward to a range of Crepes with fresh cream and fruit which will
be featured soon on the menu. 'It doesn't
have to be a big meal always at the Bistor Latino, a variety of
Tapas - small portions of finger food served with your drink is
a superb way to relax with friends, over a glass of choice wine,
which incidentally you can choose again from an extensive list.'
said Narmada Mullar, the joint partners of this Latino Project A pleasant
surprise of course is the fact that the Bistro is one of the very
few if not the only restaurant in town which serves a variety of
good wines by the glass at very reasonable prices. Wines aren't
the only beverages served, a beverage list comprising popular cocktails,
beers and fruit juices and specialty coffees are also available. The 'Bistro
Latino' is open Sunday through Thursday from 6.00 p.m. - 12.00 midnight
and until 2.00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. "The restaurant
will also open for lunch in the near future, along with a take-away
counter serving Tex-Mex favourites, fresh-cut sandwiches, gourmet
hot-dogs healthy salads and lots more" she said.-
