The EU-Sri Lanka partenariat 2004, a joint venture of the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and the European Commission with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will be held at the BMICH in June 2004.
The partenariat aims to develop and strengthen bilateral business links between Sri Lanka and the EU by way of trade, investment, transfer of technology, joint ventures, and sales and marketing cooperation whilst boosting the image of Sri Lanka in the EU and vice versa.

This venture is a two-day business matchmaking event for Sri Lankan and European Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs); and aims to attract approximately 100 European firms not represented in Sri Lanka to meet with 150 local firms. This event promises to be the largest one-to-one business matching event to be held in Sri Lanka with face-to-face business meetings behind closed doors.

The event is focused on matching requirements of SMEs in Sri Lanka with European SMEs in the infrastructure, agro foods, IT and electronics, machinery and light engineering, education services and leisure sectors in order to promote joint ventures and partnerships.

The main features of this event will be that of 150 Sri Lankan companies representing the identified sectors which would be selected based on specific project proposals or requirements and a catalog featuring the 150 companies will be produced and distributed in Europe through partner chambers in the 15 EU countries.

Based on the profiles of the 150 Sri Lankan companies, 100 potential European partners will be recruited to participate in this two-day event. During the event (the EU-Sri Lanka Partenariat 2004), the Sri Lankan and EU companies will also have opportunities to strengthen partnerships. The European Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (ECCSL) was founded in 1996 with the objective to stimulate, strengthen and promote economic and business relations between Sri Lanka and the 15 member countries of the European Union.

The ECCSL seeks to provide efficient and professional information and advisory, consultative, promotional and representative linkages between Sri Lankan and European business entities.
