HNB 'A' favoured to retain title

The popular 33rd annual Mercantile Rugby 'Sevens' a much awaited event in the rugby calendar generated much enthusiasm at Royal Rugby Complex and Longdon Place yesterday. The tournament is sponsored by Dialog G.S.M.

Hatton National Bank who are the reigning champions will be looking to make it three-in-a-row. They will take on Aitken Spence in a quarter-final match this morning.
Today's matches will only take place at Longdon Place starting at 8.30 a.m. The cup final will take place at 5.30 p.m. Dr. Hans Wijesuriya CEO Dialog GSM will be the chief guest at the final.

A ladies exhibition game will precede the final. Today's matches: ( Quarter finals ) HNB 'A' vs Aitken Spence, Ceylinco Group vs Amana Group, Sri Lankan Air Lines vs Lank Equatics 'A', John Keels 'A' vs Sampath Bank 'A'. ( Losers in the cup quarters will play in the 'Plate' semi-finals)

Bowl ( Pre-quarters )Harcourts vs HSBC, Lanka Bell vs Seylan Bank, Brandix vs Hilton, Forbes and Walker vs HNB 'B', Capital Aei vs Metropolitan, Hoodian vs Sampath Bank 'B', T.A. Logistics vs Mercantile Merchant Bank, Lanka Equatics 'B' vs Tri Star.
