‘Spark’ hits the music scene
A bright new twinkle in the musical industry is now emerging and taking the field by storm. ‘Spark’ is what they call themselves, led by the ex- Dream Team Sanjeewa Uyanahewa, who has assembled himself with some very experienced musicians.

“Spark” consists of seven energetic players. On Vocals and keyboards is the leader Sanjeewa, who gathered the cream from the popular band Zodiac, who disbanded recently. On bass guitar and vocals is the Zodiac veteran Samantha, a founder member of Zodiac and played with them for more than a decade. Manoj who plays rhythm guitar and handles vocals was also with Zodiac. Varuna is on keyboards and vocals (Zodiac), Nadeesha is the energetic drummer, who was with the award winning band ‘Simple’. Chullaka a versatile percussionist also from the band Zodiac fills all the beats with more ‘Spark’. After playing with several bands, Suranga the very sharp lead guitarist settles with ‘Spark’.

The band caters to a wide repertoire of music ranging from Country, oldies, dance, 60’s 70’s, rock n roll, rock and also the popular Sri Lankan hits. And the band also plays a session of Bhangra and Hindi hits. Also they have experience and the ability to back any local artiste.

“We have been rehearsing for some time and now ready to rock the scene ” says confident leader Sanjeewa. “Having double keyboards and percussions fills our tracks with more energy; we have already signed for two overseas parties” he added.

The wide repertoire band posses give them the ability to be very versatile in taking on bookings. They can cater to the teen party to the very suttle cocktail functions.

The music of “Spark” is filled with more orchestration and percussions filling and is very suitable for the adult contemporary audience who appreciates less of the very loud acoustic sounds most bands are dishing out. And they are ready to take on dances, parties’ weddings. ‘Spark’ will be featured in a few outlets in Colombo soon. Watch out for the tunes of ‘Spark’ very soon in and out of Colombo.
