Shock omissions in UNF National List
The UNF National List, which was handed over to Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake, last afternoon excludes former Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando, former Defence Minister Tilak Marapana and former Parliamentary Affairs Minister A.H. M. Azwer.

The list handed in just before the deadline includes K. N. Choksy, G.L. Peiris, Ali Zahir Moulana and Navin Dissanayake from the UNP; Abdul Bais Kamardeen, Hussein Ahamed Bahila, Ismail Mohamed Kuddus and W.G.S Pushpakumara from the SLMC; M.S. Sellasamy and V. Putrasigamani of the CWC and P. Radha Krishnan an of the UCPF.

Mr. Fernando yesterday declined any comment at this stage. "I will comment at a later time. When I do make the comment, everyone will know why I did not comment just now," he said. Mr. Azwer said it was the way in politics and he was not too worried about it. He said that he was now fully involved in the North Western Provincial Council election campaign in which he was the UNP candidate for the post of Chief Minister.
