Story
of a teenage love takes many turns

The movie ‘Aadaraneeya Wassanaya’ (Love in Autumn) relates
the story of a middle class boy from upcountry, falling in love
with an upper middle school going teenage girl in Colombo. the movie
is based on Upul Shantha Sannasgala’s novel “Wassaana
Sihinaya”.
The
young director Senesh Dissanaike Bandara had excelled on small screen
productions and is the winner of Best Musical Program UNDA Award
for “We will be home for X’mas”, Sumathi Award
for Best Youth Programme and for Best Magazine Programme Award for
‘Yaathra’ - youth audiovisual parade. He initiated other
popular programmes like 9.05 and Visi Ek Veni Peya.
Senesh
directed ‘Fantasy Avenue’ and the popular youth tele-serial,
‘Sulanga Wenna Numba Ethakota’. He also visualized the
Title and Themes of SLRC News and Station ID and designed the format
of The News Station. These are only few among his creations to improve
the television medium. His latest teledrama ‘Pulina Praasaada’-
(Sand Castles) is now being telecast and ‘Aravinda Pokuna’-
(Lotus Lake) is being got ready.
Being
a find of the national television SLRC, Senesh Bandara is now a
lecturer on Screen Studies at some Universities and a TV commercial
director. He is well known for his music video directions.
Malani
Fonseka with nearly 40- years of acting experience has a role in
Aadaraneeya Wassaanaya. Pradeep Senanayake the Best Supporting Actor
of the year too acts in the film.
The
film has introduced several talented teleplay actors Chathurika
Pieris, Roshan Ravindra Rajapakse and Sahan Ranwala, who is a TV
personality. In addition Susan Sandrasagara and TV and fashion model
- Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World Sachini Ayendra Stanley and Wickreme
Seneviratne make their debut on the screen. Ellen Sylvester, Hiran
Chamikara. Pujitha de Mel, Lal Deva, Chamila Attanayake, Kanchana
Kodituwakku, Awantha Perera, Deepal Guneratne and Prabath Ekanayake
are a few others performing in the film.
Young
popular vocalist Kasun Kalhara Jayawardene enters Sinhala cinema
as a playback singer in Aadaraneeya Wassaanaya. With him Athula
Adhikari, Samitha Erandathi, Uresha Ravihari, Indika Upamali, Morris
Wijesinhe, Mariazelle Gunethilleke and Deepika Priyadarshini render
their voices in this musical movie. Rohana Weerasinghe, Samantha
Perera and Nawaratne Gamage contribute with their melodies for the
songs produced by Sanhinda and Singlanka Records.
Aadaraneeya
Wassaanaya story, dialogues and lyrics are by Upul Shantha Sannasgala,
Nawaratne Gamage handles the theme music and background score. Script
and scenario are by Nimmie Hathiyaldeniya and Senesh Bandara.
Bandula
Weerackody co-produced for Telestar Private Limited and produced
by Vinod Arosha, Nalin Aponsu, Nihal Seneviratne Epa, Lalith Mirihagalle
and Nimal Ekanayake for Tomorrow Films Today Private Limited. The
film will be released at the Regal in Colombo as well as at other
CEL circuit theatres from May 28.

Kasun meets Chaapa the popular singer at a school function, which
blooms into a teenage love affair. A marriage is arranged for Chaapa
who has been sick for years with her cousin Rohan who is a philanderer.
Chaapa finds no happiness in her marriage.
Kasun
meets with a physical and mental conflict when he tries to save
Chaapa from her husband Rohan’s brutality. Chaapa who is alone
while her parents are abroad turns to Kasun her childhood sweetheart
for affection, security and empathy.
When
her father dies and her mother returns to find Chaapa ill and Rohan
inconcerned takes her to London for medication. When Rohan helps
her financially she rejects Kasun.
After
two years we see Madhu a student who learns languages from Kasun
has fallen in love with him. Kasun the teacher has his own reasons
for not loving her. Chaapa returning home is still harassed by Rohan.
Chaapa’s mother seeks Kasun’s help to rescue her at
any cost.
Chaapa
finds true love with her childhood sweetheart when she leaves Colombo
leaving the social structures and finding a world of their own filled
with humane feelings of love, trust and care.
