Treasury consultants lose jobs
Senior officials appointed as consultants or on contract in the
Finance Ministry by the previous government have had their contracts
terminated. They include tax advisor P. Guruge and N. Pathmanathan,
deputy secretary to the Treasury.
Senior
deputy secretary to the Treasury Faiz Mohideen has been transferred
to the pool of public servants. Manik Nagahawatte, former Senior
Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, said he has not been appointed
chairman of the Bank of Ceylon, as suggested in media reports. P.
Amarasinghe, also a former deputy governor, has also not received
an appointment as chairman of the People's Bank as speculated.
Meanwhile,
Ceylon Carriers chairman Udaya Nanayakkara has been appointed as
chairman of the Ceylon Tourist Board and Chandra Mohotti, former
general manager of the Galadari Hotel, as chairman of the Ceylon
Hotels Corporation.
Nanayakkara
is the president of the Universal Federation of Travel Agents' Associations,
the apex body representing all travel agents associations in the
world, and has also been president of the Travel Agents' Association
of Sri Lanka. |
