New
faces in ‘Salamuthu Pinna’
‘Salamuthu Pinna’, which introduced popular singing
due Athula Adikari and Indika Upamali to the silver screen is to
be released in twenty- two theatres from August 4.
The
film will be screened on EAP circuit cinemas and a few others including
Cinecity Colombo. Roy de Silva directed it while Cinemas Limited
handled the production. Mali (Indika Upamali) a talented singer
and dancer and Janu (Athula Adikari) a singer are dreaming of becoming
cinema stars. Living in a far off village they realize their dream
through Sanath Sir (Sanath Gunathilake). But there are many obstacles
to be overcome in their trek to make a name in the industry.
The
film brings back the memories of good old days where the stars themselves
rendered their songs and acted. The film with a number of songs
sung by Nuwan Gunawardena, Ishak Baig and Sangeeth Wickremasinghe
in addition to the main two stars Indika and Athula has taken director
Roy de Silva in a different direction in film making.
Others
in the stellar cast are Cletus Mendis, Hiran Chamikara, Damayantha
Perera, Sunil Hettiarachchi, Indika Ginige and Nilanthi Dias. ‘Salamuthu
Pinna’ is filmed by G. Nandasena, art director is Mahesh Hettiarachchi
and editing is by Elmo Haliday. To the lyrics written by Hemasiri
Halpita, Somapala Ratanayake has set the music. Story, dialogue
and screen play by Roy de Silva. The film is produced by G. R. Padmarajah.
