The
story set in the 50s is based in the remote Weligan Koratuwa in
Matara a little hamlet in the southern part of Sri Lanka. Elizabeth
Nona played by Malani Fonseka is well known for her power in black
magic and she also has won the respect of the villagers. Once a
servant who laboured like slave managed to become the owner of it
in few years time by punishing all who were wicked to her. The owner
of the Walalwwa has now become a cripple in the same house where
Elizabeth Nona was the queen.
The
story takes a dramatic turn when the young Doctor Sidath (Palitha
Perera) who was born and bred in an urban background comes to the
rural hospital in the village on his first appointment. As Dr. Sidath
wins the heart of the people he gets the opportunity of settling
at Elizabeth Nona’s Walawwa, a place which never was open
for outsiders.
Elizabeth
starts liking this young man and she offers all what she knew freely
and wholeheartedly. Still in her middle age Elizabeth Nona had not
lost her charm. And she searches for a love that she could not experience
as a young woman. And Elizabeth starts confessing her past. Sidath
too does not discourage her but does it with an ulterior motive.
One
day everything is shattered when Sidath’s girl friend, Nirmala
to whom he was engaged comes to visit him. Behind the screen Nilantha
Chularatne has handled the camera while screen play is by Thusitha
Jayawardena and art director is K. A. Milton Perera. Sisila Ima
