TNA
lights up parliamentary complex
Twenty-one members of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) commemorated
the LTTE's Heroes' Day last evening outside the Parliament building
by lighting oil lamps around the pond in front of it.
The
lamps were lit at 6.35 p.m., the time set by the LTTE to remember
its cadres killed in the fighting with security forces. It also
took place a few minutes after the House was adjourned following
the passing of the second reading of the UPFA government’s
budget..
Policemen
on duty approached the MPs to inquire what they were doing. The
MPs told them they were marking Heroes’ Day and the policemen
did not interfere. A curious Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle also
made inquiries from the MPs and did not disturb them when he was
told that they were commemorating Heroes' Day. |
