Colts and BRC eyeing the final

By Marlon Fernandopulle
Havelock Park neighbours Colts SC and BRC look set to meet each other in this weeks final after both teams obtained first innings points against CCC and SSC respectively in their Premier League semi final clashes at the end of the second days play yesterday.

Waragoda, Zoysa rescue BRC
BRC beat all odds when they grabbed first innings points from SSC and took a step closer to the Premier league title yesterday.

Earlier in the day SSC converted their overnight 168 for 8 wickets to 225 all out. Wicket keeper batsman Charith Sylvester who was dropped for the earlier games after playing in only one Premier League game proved his batting talents to compile an unbeaten 80 in the SSC total of 225. Sylvester who faced 157 balls and hit seven boundaries was involved in a 88 run stand for the 9th wicket with Dilhara Fernando that helped SSC to pass the 200 run mark after all their big guns failed to deliver.

CCC wickets tumble like nine pins
Colts SC medium pacers Indika Gallage (4/28) and Nuwan Kulasekera(2/36) ripped through the CCC batting line up to bowl them out for just 123 runs at the SSC grounds yesterday.

Despite a solid start from their openers Micheal Van Dort (59) and Damitha Hunukkumbura(18),CCC lost their last eight wickets for only 21 runs to concede a handsome 124 run first innings lead. Gallage broke the back of the CCC middle order while Kulasekera celebrated his recall to the Lankan side by removing Jehan Mubarak for a fourth ball duck and adding another scalp later on.
