A gift of sight for Christmas
The Christmas teleplay Bagyawanthayo (Blessed) depicting a moving story of how a daughter-in-law gains sight through the eyes of a mother-in-law is telecast for Christmas on Rupavahini channel. Directed by Santhusa Liyanage, the drama will be telecast on December 25 at 7pm.

The cast in Bagyawanthayo is Bimal Ratnayake, Semini Iddamalgoda, Anula Bulathsinghala, Richard Manamudali and Lakshika Fonseka. The story revolves around the young couple Wimal and Nimalee and Wimal’s mother who lives with them. There are regular quarrels between husband and wife and most of the time these were regarding Wimal’s mother’s stay. At last Wimal sends the mother to his sister’s house. Here she falls ill and has to undergo an operation.

Meanwhile Nimalee too meets with an accident and loses sight in one eye. Even after going through the operation Wimal’s mother does not achieve complete recovery.

What would be the next scene? Watch ‘Bagyawanthayo’ on the Christmas day to see how an act of love could change many disparities and differences. Ranjan Gurusinghe handles the camera, screenplay is written by Sarath Gunaratne and the play is edited by Dimuth Kuruppu. M. R. Chulasinghe is the music director.
