‘Randiya Dahara’: New story on an old theme
Director Udayakantha Warnasuriya’s Randiya Dahara (Shower of Gold) now screens at CEL circuit cinema including Regal Colombo. The film revolves around a young girl Amalie from the lower middle class of society who is dreaming to go abroad one day.

She needs money to pay for the agency and poses as a wife of a deceased soldier claiming compensation. She is successful and receives the compensation but faces a problem when the dead soldier comes back alive and well.

The cast in Randiya Dahara are Geetha Kumarasinghe, Kamal Adaraarachchi, Jackson Anthony, Sanath Gunathilake, Tony Ranasinghe, Jeewan Kumaratunge, Mahendra Perera, Henry Jayasena, Anula Karunathilake, Buddika Jayaratne, Udula Dabare, Milton Jayawardena, Sitha Kumari and child actor Asantha Peiris.

In the technical crew Jayanath Gunawardena and K. D. Dayananda handled the camera and Stanley Alwis edited the film. Musical score is written by Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa and Randiya Dahara is Neil Ranjith Palliyaguruge’s debut as a producer.
