Clash of the Titans
Leading rock bands, Stigmata and Paranoid Earthling will soon fight a ‘friendly battle’ We’ve heard of great armies throughout history battling it out on the war field for religious beliefs, country or kin. Well we’ve heard of the famous saying “When Two World’s Collide” – guess what? It’s actually going to happen. On May 21, rock’s leading stalwarts Stigmata and Paranoid Earthling will fight it out (friendly competition or otherwise!), playing two scintillating sets comprising their unique originals and cover versions of popular mainstream and underground rock and metal artistes.

These two bands have vehemently carved a distinctive niche for themselves in Sri Lanka and around the globe with their original compositions, blistering stage performances and relentless musical prowess and will stage ‘Clash of the Titans’. Both bands are capable of drawing a crowd of at least a 1000 die-hard fans and have clasped hands to organise the musical event of the year. It will be quite an event as it would be interesting to watch both bands strum out their war cries with each of their respective followings backing them!

Stigmata
No strangers to the Sri Lankan music industry, the band was formed in 1999 and has played in countless shows building an amazing cult-like following. The year 2003 saw the release of Stigmata’s debut concept album ‘Hollow Dreams’ drawing impressive reviews and acclaim. The ‘Hollow Dreams’ launch concert featured Paranoid Earthling drawing a stunning crowd and selling all 600 copies that night. ‘Hollow Dreams’ has now sold a little over 6000 copies while the band has evolved into an innovative progressive five-piece, recording its next album due out in July or August.

Paranoid Earthling
Paranoid Earthling made a name for itself very quickly with their energetic live shows, original compositions and rebellious intent. Paranoid Earthling released their debut single “Pull Me Under” in 2003 which became a HUGE hit. The band’s hard rock meets punk style has catapulted the band to hierarchy status. The band will launch their debut three-track EP on the day of the gig at just 250 Rupees! Paranoid Earthling hopes to record and release their album this year. Check out their second track “69” which is an in-your-face, power anthem that will leave anyone gasping for air!

Where?
The Women’s International Hall, Colombo 7, right next to the Lionel Wendt Theatre is the ideal venue with an in-built stage (in case of rough weather!) and an atmosphere and ambience outside that makes it a very welcoming venue for anyone of any age!

Tickets for this mega rock event will be Rs. 350 and will be sold at the venue on the day of the show.The show is from 8.30 p.m. to 12 midnight. Make sure you’re there by 8 p.m.

EP and T Shirt
Paranoid Earthling will launch their debut three- track EP on this day at 250 rupees, while Stigmata plans on launching their first ever T- Shirt at Rs. 300. Both these items will be sold at the venue, so fans have the chance of purchasing both these items at a special low rate as they will be sold at stores at higher prices.
