‘Shades
of Ash’ in fifth week
Sudath Mahaadivulwewa's maiden film 'Sudu Kalu Saha Alu' (Shades
of Ash) is in its successful fifth week at the CEL circuit cinemas
including Regal Colombo.
Set in a post war period, the film revolves around a community of
survivors who return to their village, which they abandoned many
months ago following a brutal massacre of their kith and kin and
the destruction of the total infrastructure of their village by
a ruthless terrorist attack.
They
return with nothing but their souls to a place where only memories
remain. 'Sudu Kalu Saha Alu' narrates how they adapt to rebuilding
their lives and homes while striking a compromise with the newly
emerging socio-economic culture that had been nurtured within the
'business' of war and peace.
The
film had its international release at the 27th Goteborg Film Festival
in Sweden which followed several other festivals around the world.
The cast who play equally important roles are Irangani Serasinghe,
Sriyantha Mendis, Sanath Gunathilake, Mahendra Perera, Dilhani Ekanayake,
Jayalath Manoratne, Rangana Premaratne, Tyronne Michael, Wasantha
Kotuwella, Kumudu Nishantha and Dasun Madhushanka Mendis, Koshila
Jayawardena and Gunadasa Madurasinghe were introduced to the silver
screen.
In
the technical team experienced editor Elmo Haliday used digital
technology to edit a film for the first time with music maestro
Premasiri Khemadasa's latest Dolby digital sound system in this
film. Ruwan Costa handled the camera.
The film is the first cinema production of 'Cine Shilpa'.
