‘Indrachapa’:A
family drama
'Indrachapa' is a tale of love, deceit, sacrifice and dedication.
Surath, a final year medical student, who hails from an upper middle
class Kandyan family, is going steady with his pretty girl friend
Anushika, who is two years junior to him in the medical faculty.
His parents do not approve of their affair due to social differences.
As a hobby Surath is the leader of a musical group formed with some
of his medical school colleagues, who play at functions whenever
time permits.
Sayuri
is a very modest girl with old fashioned values, whose parents are
dead. She lives with her only brother Yasantha and his family, who
loves her very much. She attends music classes mainly to train her
voice and as a musician, who has a deep passion for playing the
violin. she loves Dhanuka, a boy who hails from a rich family.
Dhanuka
is a playboy. Although he loves Sayuri he also takes out other girls
as well, which Sayuri is unaware of. Dhanuka's sister disapproves
of Sayuri and thinks she is a misfit for her brother. Sayuri is
disappointed with Dhanuka's behaviour of having affairs with other
girls and becomes utterly and totally depressed, resulting in a
mental illness.
She
undergoes treatment as a patient at the same hospital, where Surath
and one of his colleagues work, seeing him after the talent contest.
They become drawn to each other through their common love for music.
Anushika too befriends Sayuri by trying to help her to recover from
her illness and sacrifices her love for Surath, when she learns
that Sayuri loves him.
This
affects their love lives with complications, which arises from this
situation and the outcome of their love and friendship and involvements
bring changes in the lives of Sayuri, Surath and Anushika. What
is the outcome of their lives?

story is written by Ranmali Mangalika, Screenplay by Sandya Subasinghe
and directed by Ravindra Wijeratne his first direction. Assistant

maiden venture and the music direction by Priyanath Ratnayaka.
