Heavy rains this week
Amidst growing concern over heavy rain and resultant effects such as landslides the Meteorological Department said yesterday thunder showers were likely in several parts of the country later this week.

Weather Chief Ajith Weerawardena said the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and Galle and Matara Districts would experience rain throughout the week. He said thunderstorms could occur in the afternoons or evenings in Uva, Central and Eastern Provinces. (Please See Editorial )
