Sepalika's
hopes are shattered and she is sad. Suranga too is dejected. Sepalika's

to spend for her brother's education and Suranga failed in Physics
which is the subject her husband taught. Suranga leaves home as
a result.
In
Anuradhapura, Suranga has no job or prospects. But when he meets

entering the medical college is not the only way to be successful
doctor.
Shreegy

for Suranga. She realises that Suranga is clever and he should have
been in her place as she lacks that cleverness.
The
fact is Suranga had scored in both instances more marks than what
she has got. She has been selected on the district level basis.
Thus Shreegy starts admiring Suranga and loves him. Suranga uses
her books to improve his knowledge of medical science.
With
the help of Shreegy, Suranga follows a course in Pharmacology. He
meets Jagath there. Suranga gets to know that Jagath is a pseudo
medical practitioner. This creates a bond between the two. Suranga
pleads with Jagath not to turn his profession into a enterprise.
Suranga's
colleagues at the pharmacy feel jealousy of him. Gunadasa the leader
feels threatened. Gunadasa with the help of another steals some
drugs and manipulates it so that Suranga and Perumbali get caught.
Suranga is dismissed.
Suranga
goes with Perumbari to his village and starts a dispensary. Suranga
uses the money he earned and the money he got from his sister. Perumbali
helps him as this is a good way to earn a living. Suranga wins the
appreciation of the villagers. He becomes the popular doctor in
the village.
The
story moves forward showing Suranga's dedication to the profession
and many hilarious incidents that are connected to the medical profession.
