You certainly will…
As You Will, produced by Elizabeth Moir School on February 24 and 25 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, is based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

The plot of the play, true to most farcical comedies, is convoluted with many twists and turns, mistaken identities and gender confusion. It starts with Ashley, a young girl, who runs away from her foster home, as she starts at a new school and decides to dress up as a boy, so that she can get into the cricket team and avoid detection. It all seems to be going well, until she falls in love with the cricket captain, Dominic (Hashir Milhan), and in the mean time Olivia, the head girl, falls in love with her thinking that she is a boy. To make matters worse, Dominic is in love with Olivia. Eventually, the love triangle becomes a square when Ashley’s twin brother, William, turns up and more hilarity ensues.

Sarah Rahman plays Ashley and says, “The play is funny, but no cute boys will like me, because I have to wear a false moustache throughout the play, and if they did, that would be extremely worrying.” Zara Mathew portrays an elegant and poised Olivia, and ponders throughout the play, “I wonder if it’s possible to fall in love so quickly.”

Nathan Imboden, who plays William, Ashley’s twin brother, firmly believes that everyone on the cast and crew is mad. Whilst men, women and dogs have been fleeing from Hashir Milhan during rehearsals (and not necessarily in that order), Shazana Shahjahan, who plays Maisy, threatens that either you come to see this play, “…or I will pummel you into the ground with my swift fists and floating footwork.”

Confused? Enthralled? Curious? Excited? Come see our play!
