ASF SR Squash Championship - Taipe
Tehani narrowly edged out in quarters
At the Asian Squash Federation Senior Championships,Taipe, 18 year old Tehani Guruge of Musaeus College lived up to her reputation by being the only Sri Lankan on the current tour to advance to the plate quarter-finals where she was narrowly beaten by the senior professional Singapore player Vicky He, 9/3 9/6 0/9 6/9 0/9.

It was unfortunate that whereas Singapore Coach was available to advise Vicky during the closely contested match, Tehani had to depend on her own international experience in the absence of a qualified Sri Lankan Coach as we had not sent one to Taipe and the match could have gone a different way had there been a qualified Sri Lankan Coach on hand.

Commenting on the match Tehani said that if only her Coach Lakdasa Cooray was available to advise her she may done that little bit more as she had rattled the professional, taking an early lead by winning the first and second games.

At Asian Squash Federation Jr: Championships, Islamabad 2003 Tehani created major upsets beating more fancied Pakistani girls with the strategic tactical acumen of her Coach Cooray.
