‘Devana Warama’ : A tale in Australia
Ranga and Nilu are a middle aged couple. Their child is Ama and she is two years old. The family goes for a carnival and they meet with an accident. Ranga and Nilu get injured and their child gets lost in the crowd. Unable to find their daughter who disappeared, their search involve journeying over passing several seas.

Produced and directed by Chalaka Jayasinghe, ‘Devana Varama’ telecast every Saturday at 7.30 pm.on Rupavahini. With the main roles played by Janaka Kumbukge, Nayana Kumari, Bimal Jayakody and Bandula Vithanage star in this teledrama.

The story revolves around the desperate search of a father for his mysteriously disappeared daughter and the many heartbreaking events that take place during this search.

Having failed in all their attempts Ranga and Nilu decide to migrate and they settle down in Melbourne, Australia. The new surroundings help them to forget their sorrow for the moment. But they are faced with new problems finding jobs and getting accustomed to the new lifestyle. However Ranga meets one of his schoolmates Angelo and his wife, Roshen, Dr. Pinto, a retired scientist and a Tibetan Lama.

In the hope of making a successful career Ranga starts higher studies there and he completes his degree. This gives him an opportunity to secure a job. Once well settled Ranga gets back to his search for the lost daughter Ama. During this time he meets Chamari, one of his friends who had migrated to Australia and Ranga helps her to settle down in Australia.

Meanwhile Ranga's wife, Nilu finds a new world there and she gets lost in bad company. Some of her friends carry tales against Ranga in order to break their family. Once Angelo who comes to know about Chamari from Ranga, tells Nilu that they were having an affair. This upsets her and she leaves her husband. Ranga who starts to live alone meets with an accident and realizes that there is no one except Chamari to help him.

After recovering, Ranga is invited for a party by one of his friends. There he happens to see a little girl, who resembles his lost daughter. This new meeting serves as a beginning to many dramatic sequences.

"'Devana Warama' has a completely different story compared to other teledramas produced in Australia. The script is set against the Australian background and depicts how people adapt to their surroundings and the ways and means they employ to overcome their goals,".

Camera handled by Saratha Suriya Kumara, edited by Rukmal Nirosh, the musical score is written by Ruwan Weerasekara.
