Nalin Perera strikes back with two wins at N’Eliya
Former champion rider Nalin Perera, who failed to win any race at the Nuwara Eliya Motor Cross, struck back with venom to clinch a double at the inaugural Flat Race organized by the Nuwara Eliya Motor Racing Club (NEM) at the NEM Racing Complex.

This was the first ever flat race that has been held in Sri Lanka and the organizers intend to make this an annual event among the many events that is conducted by them during the Nuwara Eliya festival season. Though the participation of riders was less, motor racing fans had more than enough to enjoy.

It was veteran rider Rohana Jayaratne on his Yamaha WR250F who hit the winning post first in the opening event for the day. He won the race with ease. The second to go past the post was almost 400 meters away. But he was unlucky as he was forced to give up the open event at the closing stages of the eight lap race. After leading for most part of the race he skidded off the road giving Buddhika Sudarshana the win.

Nalin Perera's first win was in the Racing Bike 125cc to 250cc event. He had his own way and won with a massive lead. During his second victory he had some anxious moments as young Pasindu Peiris led him for two rounds of the ten lap race before he took the lead to win.
