Lakshman wins leadership award

Lakshman Kuruppu, Managing Director of Sujatha Vidyalaya was awarded the Outstanding Young Persons award for Academic Leadership at the HSBC-JCI TOYP Awards held recently at the Ceylon Continental Hotel.

The award was to recognize outstanding individuals whose personal and professional achievements in a chosen field are exemplary, outstanding and nationally beneficial.

Lakshman Kuruppu mentioned his late father Linton Kuruppu, the founder of Sujatha Vidyalaya with gratitude in his acceptance speech. Today Sujatha Vidyalaya with many achievements to its credit, is one of the most sought-after private schools in the city.

Lakshman Kuruppu was educated at Royal College and read for a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Central Missouri State University, USA. He worked with John Keells after his return from the US but later decided to devote his full attention to Sujatha Vidyalaya after the death of his father.

With a clear vision for the future, he has made many improvements in infrastructure, methodology and system development. The commencement of an English stream and the formation of the Academy of Professional Studies etc are among his innovations at the school.
