Evening of entertainment with DBU

The Dutch Burgher Union of Ceylon's Welfare Beneficiary Project sub-committee presents 'An Evening of Entertainment' on November 22 at 7 p.m. The evening of fashion, dances and complimentary wine, sherry and canapés will be in aid of less advantaged senior citizens.

Fashions will be in two segments - children modelling the latest fashion from the House of Barefoot with its inimitable kaleidoscope of colour followed by a bevy of beauties including many former Miss Sri Lanka's modelling their favourite outfits.

Michael Wijesuriya will present a beautiful collection of evening wear and all the models will be adorned with the most beautiful diamond jewellery from Blue Diamond Ceylinco Group.

Antonio's Dance Circle will also entertain the audience with some exciting dances.

The Committee appeals to all to enjoy the evening and help to brighten up the lives of our less advantaged senior citizens.
Tickets are priced at Rs.1,000.


Cookery exhibition with Shantha

'Quick and Easy and Economical Dishes', culinary expert Shantha Mayadunne's cookery exhibition will be held on November 25 at the Kandy High School from 9. a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organized for the 11th consecutive year, this event is the biggest annual cookery workshop held in Sri Lanka and is open to the public free of charge.

Those who wish to attend will have to apply through the coupon published in the Sirikatha newspaper, the main media sponsors for the event.


Book launch

The biography of former President D.B. Wijetunga "Nihathamani Rajya Nayakaya" written by Menike Sumanasekera will be launched on Sunday, November 26 at 3.00 p.m. at Earl's Regency Hotel at Thennakumbura, Kandy.

Speaker of the Parliament W.J.M. Lokubandara will be the chief guest and the Leader of UNP and Leader of Opposition Ranil Wickremasinghe will be the guest of honour at the ceremony. The speakers at the ceremony will include Minister of Posts, Telecommunication and Upcountry Development D.M. Jayaratna and Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs Dr. Sarath Amunugama . The welcome address will be delivered by M.P. for Polonnaruwa, Earl Gunasekera. Former President D.B. Wijetunga will also be present.

A copy of the book will be presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa by the author on a date prior to the ceremony.

Mahinda Club, the old boys' organization of Mahinda College, Galle is collecting data on old Mahindians for latest edition of its directory.
