The Old Boys Union of S. Thomas’ Prep School Kollupitiya launched the Tusker Awards presentation at their recently concluded re-union dinner “A Lighter Shade of Blue” held at the Water’s Edge Capital City on November 3.

Secretary of the OBU Johanne De Zilwa said the Tusker Awards will be presented to outstanding old boys of S. Thomas’ Prep School Kollupitiya for their achievements, which have thus brought honour to their old school and the country.

This year the Tusker Awards were presented to Dr. H.N.S. Karunathilake and Murad Ismail. Dr. Karunathilake a former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and well-known economist was presented the award for his achievements in the field of economics.

Dr. Karunathilake was one of the first batch of boys admitted to Prep School.

Mr. Ismail received the award for his achievements in the field of architecture. Mr. Ismail has contributed immensely to the leisure sector in Sri Lanka and has been also involved in designing leading hotels in Maldives, India and Malaysia.

The Tusker Awards will henceforth be an annual event in the programme calendar of the Old Boys Union.
