Malinga and Tharanga shine

Four matches abandoned for second successive day in premier league cricket

The same fate befell the second day’s play of the Sirasa Premier League cricket encounters with only two matches being played. The four matches Bloomfield vs SSC at Reid Avenue, Colts vs Moors at Colts, CCC vs Chilaw Marians at Braybrooke Place and Tamil Union vs Badureliya CC was abandoned for the second successive day. Only two matches were played and that too after a delayed start.

BRC amass 302/9
Half centuries by Dilshan Vitharana and Chamil Perera helped BRC amassed 302 for 9 before declaring from their overnight score of 183 for 3 on the second day’s play of the Sirasa Premier League cricket tournament played at the BRC grounds yesterday.
BRC (183/3 o’night) 302 for 9 declared in 98 overs (Dilshan Vitharana 86, Chamil Perera 85, Viraj Perera 41, Chamara Soysa 32, Thamara Abeyratne 24.; Pubudu Wickrama 3 for 81, Rasika Fernando 2 for 41, Sanjeewa Roshan 2 for 81)

Panadura 21 for 2 in 11.3 overs Malinga and Tharanga shine
NCC’s national players Lasith Malinga and Upul Tharanga put up impressive performances in their Sirasa Premier League encounter against Ragama on the second day’s play at the FTZ grounds in Katunayake. Malinga ripped through the Ragama batting to bowl them out for 114 and then Tharanga slammed a quick fire 76 with eight boundaries and two sixes which saw NCC ending the day on 175 for 6.

The match will be continued at 9.30 a.m. today.
