'Kurulu Pihatu' takes
off from Friday
Experienced teledrama director Sumith Kumar's
debut cinematic direction 'Kurulu Pihatu' (Bird’s Feathers)
will be released on CEL circuit theatres including the Regal cinema
Colombo.
Revolving around a child sans parental love and
who then turns to a life away from worldly pleasures is produced
by Paul Newman. Following a breaking up of the marriage of Chandrasekara
(Jackson Anthony) and Salika (Dilhani Ashokamala), the father and
mother of Saman (Sajith Anuththara), they find their thirteen year
old son as a burden. Chandrasekara falls out with his wife and leaves
home. In the meantime, Salika yearning for a fresh life which she
had failed to realize with Chandrasekara, marries young Sharuka
(Suresh Gamage). The child who failed to enjoy parental love and
affection turns to his grand mother but there too he is rejected.
Saman finally decides to live on the street. An
old beggar, a complete stranger in his life teaches him the first
lesson on begging.
Saman, however, discovers that only consolation
in this barren life is to give worldly life up and be a Buddhist
monk.
The cast comprises Hemasiri Liyanage, Seetha Kumari,
Saranapala Jayasuriya, Muthu Tharanga, Senaka Titus and Sarath Chandrasiri.
The technical crew included Elmo Halliday as the editor, K. D. Dayananda
handling the camera and Mahinda K. Premasiri writing the screenplay.
Music direction is by Ananda Gamage the background
songs are by Senanayake Weraliyadda, Kumari Munasinghe and Sajith
Anuththara.
