New underworld boss crowned amid ‘high’ protection?

With the alleged abduction and disappearance of underworld kingpin Nawala Nihal last year, and the gunning down of two of his brothers there after, a new undisputed underworld boss has been crowned with the help of corrupt policemen and some politicians.

A former top cop who posed off as being very tough on the underworld, it is now learnt, might have even facilitated the rise of the new crime boss by affording him protection at crucial times and even helping to eliminate his rivals. The top cop’s modus operandi had been to innocently suggest to pet juniors down the line to provide full security to his desired underworld kingpins on days they are brought to courts, instead of giving direct orders as a top cop. These directives had been issued bypassing some key cops in the line of command.

According to police sources though the top cop is no longer in service having had to retire, there are other corrupt cops and at least a Minister and a Deputy Minister to give cover to the new crime boss.

One particular ASP who is servicing the underworld from a central location, police sources said was netting a daily income of more than ten million rupees.
