Priya, Percy and the song

Sri Lanka's number one cricket cheer leader Percy Abeysekera will be featured on two cricket songs to boost the spirit of the Sri Lankan Cricketers taking part in the World Cup in the Carribean. The two songs penned in English and Sinhala narrate the story of Muttiah Muralitharan, Sri Lanka's champion bowler, his exploits and the hazards he had to bear up with, in order to achieve greatness.

The songs were composed and musically arranged by musician Priya Peiris (of La Bambas and Cock-A-Doodle-Do fame).

'Percy has done so much to boost the morale of our cricketers for four decades and 1 sugested to him that he records a few cricket songs to mark his 40 years as a cheer-leader and also to boost the morale of the cricketers' Priya told the 'TV Times'.

These songs are bound to be broadcast and telecast on the local Radio and TV channels especially during the World Cup period.

In addition, Priya has also composed a few other morale boosting cricket songs which he hopes to put out in time for the World Cup. He has composed and musically arranged these songs voluntarily on his own, purely due to his enthusiasm for cricket.
