Bangladesh host academy tri-nation series

An ODI tournament among three cricket academies in the sub-continent – Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will commence from April 21.

The key aspect in this tournament will be to push young talent to indulge in competitive cricket in different conditions. Minnows Bangladesh is on the right track with an infrastructure – a-long-term plan, giving exposure to young talent. under the stewardship of Dav Whatmore.

Sri Lanka has joined forces besides playing in the one-day series by playing two 4-day games.

Fielding an academy team with a blend of youth and experience led by Ian Daniel some of the players have already played in the big league. Namely Ian Daniel, Nuwan Zoysa etc. It is heartening to note batting allrounder from St. Joseph’s Angelo Mathews is included – a player who has already made an impact in the Under-19 circuit. The Lankan Academy team will leave on April 20 and play their first one-day game against Bangladesh.. The final between No. 1 and two will be played on April 30.This will be followed by two four-day games between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The first match commences on May 3. The local academy team has been training hard, under Director Jerome Jayaratne. The players are afforded with all facilities. The latter part of the tour is the ideal test to prove their skills in the established game.

Itinerary: April: 21 – Bangladesh vs Pakistan, 22 Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 23 Rest and Practices, 24 Sri Lanka vs Pakistan, 25 Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, 26 Rest and Practices, 27 Pakistan vs Bangladesh, 28 Sri Lanka vs Pakistan, 29 Rest 30 Final.
