Unilever Sri Lanka rewards its top SMMT customers

Unilever Sri Lanka rewarded its top Small and Medium Modern Trade (SMMT) customers at a gala award ceremony at Water’s Edge recently.

“Currently 120 stand alone supermarkets operate with Unilever Sri Lanka. SMMT customers also referred to as stand alone customers, are large contributors to the total modern trade business of Unilever Sri Lanka,” said Sandeetha Jayasinghe, Modern Trade Manager USL in his presentation which was quoted in a press release issued by the company, “The loyalty scheme was launched in 2006 with the aim of assisting stand alone supermarkets to upgrade in terms of the service they provide to their shoppers as well as attracting new shoppers to their outlets.”

Thirty SMMT customers were selected on a pre-determined criteria to participate in the scheme, the release said.

The award ceremony recognised and rewarded the top performers of the scheme. Sumeda Mahalekum of Salinda Super Ragama was awarded the Platinum Award, Shelton Munasinghe of Co-op Super Kottawa received the Gold Award and Kelum Perera of Thushara Super took away the Silver Award.

Ranjan Senanayake of Ranjan Lanka was awarded the Special Appreciation Award.
