Hotline to report crimes against nature
The Environment Ministry will introduce a 24 hour hotline (1991) on Tuesday to coincide with International Environment Day, to entertain public complaints about any wrong doings in relation to the environment.
A Ministry spokesperson said the public is welcome to phone in any complaint in relation to subjects coming under the six institutions coming under it - the Central Environment Authority, Wild Life Conservation Department, Forest Department, Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, Marine Pollution Prevention Authority and the State Timber Corporation.
Anything from dumping of toxic waste, illicit sand mining slaughter of wild life or illicit felling of trees can be brought to the attention of this desk, which assures immediate action. |
