Colombo grads drown Moratuwa

It was a one horse race as Colombo University beat Moratuwa University with ease in their annual inter University regatta held at the Colombo rowing club at Beira Lake yesterday.

Colombo University was captained by Champika Namantha while the Moratuwa University was led by Sudeera Wickrema. Colombo University obtained 42points while the Moratuwa University had only two points.

In the women’s section Colombo university had 34 points while the Moratuwa university were unable to obtain any points.

The meet started off with A scull for men’s where M.D.D.Lasantha of Colombo university beat Praveen Jayawardena of Moratuwa university. Lasantha led from the start and finished with a huge lead. The race of the day was the last race which was the A four men it was close fight from the start where both teams went neck to neck with Colombo university having the little bit of extra to come on top.
