Two cops on the mat

The present and former Headquarters Inspectors of the Rangala police have been remanded for alleged criminal activities. The present HQI was arrested by Bribery Commission officers while allegedly accepting a bribe in the Teldeniya court premises.

The former HQI presently serving as the Vavuniya police OIC was arrested and kept in remand till August 6 on the orders of High Court Judge D.S.C. Lekamwasam following the production of warrants regarding the disappearance of a person during the 1989 insurgency.
