Ashley participates at Cinefan

Ashley Ratnavibhushana participated at the 9th Osian Cinefan Film Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema held in New Delhi from July 20 to 29, 2007. Osian's Cinefan is one of Asia's leading film festivals devoted principally to Asia and the Arab world and it is organized by Osian's Connoisseurs of Art; India's pioneering arts institution and auction house established in 2000, to create a merit oriented and financially independent cultural infrastructure.

Some of the Sri Lankan directions including "Rekava" directed by Lester James Peries, "Deevari" directed by Salinda Perera and "Sankara" directed by Prasanna Jayakody are to be screened in various categories of Cinefan Film Festival.

Ashley was invited to participate at an International Conference titled "The Origins of Cinema in Asia" held on 22-23 July, which discussed the nature, identity, films and film practices in Asian countries.

Ashley participated as a Jury Member in the 8 Jeonju Film Festival, Korea in June 2007 and in the 9th International Festival of Film Societies, held in Matrea, Italy in July.

Ashley is also the President of Asian Film Centre affiliated to Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC). He is the General Secretary and the Jury Coordinator of the NETFAC. The Secretariat of NETPAC which operated from Pusan, Korea has been shifted to Colombo since January 2007.
