Sri Lanka helping Norway in IT deal
Norway is always in the news for being Sri Lanka’s peace facilitator But here is a story with a difference.
A Sri Lankan company is involved in providing logistics support to a Norwegian company and a defence contractor at that!
IFS Sri Lanka is providing the R&D for an agreement signed between the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) and IFS in a US $ 8 million deal to upgrade its existing maintenance and logistics solutions for the air force and navy.
The Norwegian Armed Forces has been an IFS customer since 1997, where they have delivered an integrated solution for logistics and maintenance, among other things, for aircraft and ships by IFS whose main targeted market segments is aerospace and defence. “The armed forces’ most complex material plays a crucial role in many operations, at home and abroad, and we are dependent on consistently efficient IT support.
We have a positive experience of the solution from IFS and look forward to upgrading to IFS Applications 7,” said Harald Bye, head of the Information Department at the NDLO. “We have collaborated well with the Norwegian Armed Forces for many years, and we are very happy that they have chosen to upgrade their applications,” said Glenn Arnesen, managing director of IFS Scandinavia.
Among other things, IFS will deliver a corresponding solution to the US Air Force via the Expeditionary Combat Support System (ECSS) project, in which the IFS solution is integrated with ORACLE. IFS Applications includes advanced standard functionality that meets the demanding requirements of the aerospace and defence industries in respect of maintenance and materiel availability.
In Sri Lanka, IFS has established its largest R & D centre globally.
The office has the support centre for many aerospace and defence projects in the world while offering first and fast support for its local customers in Sri Lanka and regional customers in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The IFS Sri Lanka support centre comprising around 200 experts, runs the entire support level activities of Japan, North America and few other major projects in the world. |
