DMS supports golf at Royal Colombo

DMS Garments Technologies Ltd. a massive combine came in once again with their annual sponsorship of a highly competitive stroke play competition at which over 200 vied for honours. Hefty Michael Matthysz is the popular Chief Executive of DMS and he was responsible for the excellent support given to the Royal Colombo Golf Club to make this event successful.

“A” Classic
Pferoze Billimoria, a brilliant golfer of yesteryear now playing off 6 handicap cracked an excellent nett 69 to win the “A” Classic beating a young star performer Avinesh Nareshkumar by one stroke. Nihal Boralessa quite a regular playing off 16 pushed a praiseworthy nett 67 to beat the champ of the recent past Priath Fernando, who on a better back nine settled for nett 68.

Jayawardena Stuns
An absolute raw rookie Chainthaka Jayawardena played great golf with good command of his shots. I am told he was quite please with his tee shots but a trifle uncertain of the pace of the greens. Delighted and pleased with the whole universe the young man made the 19th a location he would want to remember. He cracked a stunning nett 62 and should not be shocked if he gets a massive chop to his 25 handicap. Congrats. Srinath Rajapaksa on 20 handicap also played a tremendous round of nett 64 to come 2nd. He too celebrated extravagantly and richly deserves the several pats he got on his back.

Seniors
Veteran Sugath Weerarathne was beaming all afternoon through an elastic lunch hour occasionally giving a hole by hole commentary of his nett 75. He was a popular winner beating another pleasant personality Anwar Jawad who settled on nett 77.

Masters
Parick Steve Dias moved very successful to collect an excellent nett 68 beating T.A. Weerasinghe by just one stroke and using his victory as a good excuse to light up the 19th in the company of a few pals.

Poolists
Neglected but still showing promise J.J. Kumar shot a brilliant 70 closely followed by J.M.D. Indika on 71. Both are regular star performers.
