Major Berty Perera awarded 'Deshabandu' title

Major Berty Perera, Civil Commanding Officer of the 233rd Brigade stationed in Vakarai has been awarded the 'Deshabandu' title by the Sri Lanka Social, Welfare and Peace Foundation for his long service to the people of Batticaloa and Vakarai.

The award follows a survey conducted by the organization on Major Perera's humanitarian work. He is an old boy of Maris Stella College, Negombo and St. Sebastian's Maha Vidyalaya, Katuwapitiya. He joined the Army in July 1985.
