Coca-Cola joins up with Namal's project

Coca-Cola Sri Lanka recently joined up with the “Tharunyata Hetak” national initiative headed by Namal Rajapaksa, which is working towards alleviating illiteracy and unemployment among Sri Lankan youth.

Coca-Cola Sri Lanka said it joined the programme by creating entrepreneurship opportunities through a new mobile sales operation introduced recently.

These mobile selling carts were given to young people who were identified by Tharunyata Hetak at a handing over ceremony held recently.

The mobile selling units are virtual shops on wheels. Each unit is built as a push cart, which is complete with display racks, storage space for forty eight bottles of beverages and refrigeration space as well.

While each cart will sell Coca-Cola beverages, they will also have the capacity to sell fast moving consumer goods such as lunch packets and food snacks.

The beneficiaries of this programme were chosen through the Colombo Municipality, and 23 of the individuals have already received their carts. Each vendor will have the capacity to generate an average monthly income of Rs 10,000.
