Sport Blitz captures the winners
Sports Blitz, The Sri Lankan sports magazine which is on sales racks gives prominence in photographs, to the recipients of awards at the Sri Lanka Cricket, 2006-07, presentation ceremony. Also to the school boys who were successful in the “Lemonade trophy” which was won by Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa.
This colorful production which is getting better with every issue focuses mostly on cricket with reflections on the World Cup, Bangladesh tour and the Royal-Thomian match which the Thomians won by an innings, with the game ending before the lunch break on day three. Photographs of Tom Moody’s farewell are also featured. His assistant Trevor Penny who also concluded his duties and left for Perth is interviewed by the Managing editor of the magazine, Ranil Abeynaike.
Damayanthi Darsha, retired after a long and illustrious career on the track. Sports Blitz has spoken to her and she has expressed some forthright thoughts on her career and the sport in Sri Lanka.
Accounts of school and club rugby, 4x4 Motor Racing, Squash and KIT Premier league football are covered in this edition.
Lorenz Pereira, who dazzled on the rugby field in the island is on a short holiday. He reminices of the good old days and his time as the first “non sudda” to captain CH&FC!
