Govt is World Bank’s only partner
The World Bank’s primary partner in its development assistance work in Sri Lanka has been the Government, World Bank Country Director, Naoko Ishii said.
Last week The Sunday Times inadvertently reported that the Bank had listed the Tamils Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) as a partner organization.
However, the Country Director in her comments to The Sunday Times had said that no project funding was being channelled from the World Bank to institutions outside the government.
“Any project funded by the World Bank in Sri Lanka is implemented with the full consent and agreement of the government and all project funding is channelled through the Government,” Ishii had said. |
