Annual Award Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Law College

The highlight of the Annual Award Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Law College was the presentation of two awards of excellence – the Dr. C. Ananda Grero Gold Medal for Excellence to Sureka M.H. Ahamed and the Walter Laduwahetty Gold Medal for Excellence for the Best Performance at Law College this year to M.A. Althaf Marsoof.

Mr. Marsoof who won the Walter Laduwahetty Gold Medal for his academic achievements, research and editorial skills, qualitative publications and leadership in debating, international mooting and swimming, also won the P. Navaratnajah Memorial Gold Medal for Law of Evidence, the Sethukavalar Memorial Prize for Commercial Law and the Council of Legal Education Award for Civil Procedure and Pleadings.

The other award winners were: W.D.S.R de Silva -- the Hector Jayewardene Memorial Gold Medal for the 'Address to the Jury' in English; A.L.S. Amarawickrama -- the G.L.M de Silva Gold Medal for the 'Address to the Jury' in Sinhala; M. Irshad Hameed -- the A.C. Bunty de Soysa Gold Medal for Mooting; H.M. Bhagya Madhubhashini Herath -- the Sir Lalitha Rajapakse Memorial Prize and the Justice V. Siva Supramaniam Memorial Gold Medal and M.M. Abeysekara - the Pearl Cooray Memorial Gold Medal for Trust Accounts, Book-Keeping and Professional Ethics.

The members of the Law College mooting and client-counselling teams were awarded medallions in recognition of their participation. Meanwhile, the two scholarships awarded by the Council of Legal Education on the basis of the results of the Final Examination in Laws were won by H.M. Bhagy Madhubhashini Herath and M.A. Althaf Marsoof.
