Sri Lankan teledrama project launched in Boston, USA
A 30-episode Sinhala teledrama titled 'Bindunu Bami' (Broken Bonds) is being produced by a group of Sri Lankans in Boston, Massachusetts, with cuts already being filmed at Harvard Square, the commercial centre of Harvard University.
The teledrama revolves round a Sri Lankan doctor who migrates with his family to America in the 1980s and depicts their struggle to fit in.
The script for the teledrama, being directed by Chitral de Mel, has been written by Upul Bandarage. Award winning actor Sriyantha Mendis will play the role of the doctor, while the balance cast from Boston and New York includes Vyonni de Mel, Lakmini Jayasundara, Ranjan Samarakone, Kumari Dissanayake, Jayantha Bopearachchi Sanjeewa Karunaratne and Dileni Bandarage.
The production crew includes Ranjith Wijesinghe, Janaka Karunaratne, Janak Ambalangodage, Nalith Karunaratne and Lucian Perera while the music is directed and recorded by Arjuna Balasuriya, with Vanoji Balasuriya singing the theme song. Upul Jayasundara is camera director and Ritani Rathnapala the make-up artist.
