Reigining Champs does it again

The Reigining Champions Vijaya College-Matale outplayed Mahinda College Galle by 3 goals to nil to retain the 'Sir Henry Steel Olcott’ memorial trophy' for the fourth successive year in their Annual hockey big match played on boxing day at the Nandimitra Ekanayake Astro turf-in Matale.

At lemons the Winners led 1-0 Kusal Senanayake, Kalana Madushan and Dunuweera scored a goal each for the Vjayans. Indrawansa Herath and Sanath Jayasinghe Controlled the game. The Confrontation between the two Schools cup to date has resulted in Vijayans leading the series by four wins to nil. In the under 15 encounter between the two schools played at the same venue Vijayans posted a 4-Nil Victory over Galle Mahindians

Sachith Jayawardhana netted two goals with Anuradha Ratnayake and Malinga Bandara claiming one goal each. S. Jayasinghe and Mangala Karunaratne Controlled the game. Present Vijayans posted a 3.2 win over post Vijayans in an exhibition Match played after the big Match at the same venue.

Kalana Madushan Scored two goals and Shantha De Mel one for the winners while Milan Ariyawansa and M. Farshad scored a goal each for the losers. The Match was controlled by I. Herath and S. Jayasinghe
