Iranian trade fair

An Iranian Trade Fair and Exhibition opened yesterday at the Sri Lanka Convention Centre, the first single country exhibition that the government of Iran is hosting in Sri Lanka. It will run till January 31.

Sectors and industries that will be exhibited are petroleum and products, boat manufacturing, construction materials and engineering services, energy and water projects management, steel products and gypsum plus handicrafts, carpets, beverages, food, texiles. Over 80 Iranian companies are participating. The Iranian government said it is interested in bilateral trade and mega projects in Sri Lanka with the key areas of focus being power and energy, and construction.

Recently Iran offered a 7-month credit line for oil purchases following an official visit there by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and a delegation.
