CPC to introduce Soltron to combat obnoxious fumes’ emissions

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is to introduce Soltron , the enzyme catalyze for petrol at around 1200 fuel filling stations in the island.

The CPC is exploring the possibility of making available the fuel efficiency enzyme mixing it with petrol from the pump at these filling stations.

This product aims to increase engine efficiency and prevent obnoxious fumes going out of vehicles into the environment. Shantha Narangoda, Managing Director of M. N. International (Pvt) Ltd. and Hugo Wall, Marketing Director of Soltron Jercy Ltd. UK held discussions with the CPC Chairman Asantha de Mel recently to introduce Soltron at all Ceypetco-managed filling stations.

Narangoda told a press conference that two officials of the CPC have been entrusted with the task of finding ways and means to implement this initiative.

“The product has been available for the last three years in bottled form, but the new initiative is to make Soltron available from the pump of filling stations,” he said.

Hugo Wall, Marketing Director of Soltron Jersey Ltd. UK said this is a Japanese product manufactured out of a natural enzyme and will not be harmful to the environment which is the main feature of the product. He added that this product is very popular in many European countries including UK, USA, and Germany as it helps to curb carbon monoxide emissions minimizing the impact of global warming.

Meanwhile two private companies, Clean Co Lanka (Pvt) Ltd and Laugfs Eco Sri (Pvt) Ltd are to invest over one billion rupees to implement the government’s Vehicle Emission Testing programme aimed at creating an air pollution-free environment.

These two companies have been selected for this Public Private sector partnership in a transparent tender procedure to issue emission testing certificates following an emission test on vehicles with effect from April 1.

A revenue license will not be issued to vehicles without an emission test certificate.
