'Dayata Kirula 2008' - the second national educational and development exhibition organised by the government will be held at the BMICH from February 4 to 10, to coincide with the country's 60th independence celebrations.
Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Udaya Senevirathne said all government institutions representing various sectors such as Agriculture, Power and Energy, Shipping and Aviation, Education, Telecommunication and IT etc, will participate in the exhibition under team clusters to showcase their goods and services.
Some 100 private companies will also participate in the exhibition as will several foreign participants who will take part to demonstrate their country profiles as well as for promotional proposes.
There will also be a cultural and a religious show by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of National Heritage and Religious Affairs.
Entrance for schoolchildren (in uniform) and staff will be free of charge while the others will have to buy a special 'Dayata Kirula' development lottery ticket printed for the occasion, priced at Rs. 20. Many valuable prizes worth Rs. 60 million rupees, the first prize being a 'Reston' jeep valued at Rs. 6 million will be on offer in the ticket draw.
The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight while on February 4, it will be open to the public after 6 p.m. |
