Disabled children’s home marks 20

A children’s home located at St. Andrew’s Road in Nuwara Eliya celebrated its 20th anniversary last Monday. The celebrations at this home for disabled children – MENCAFEP - were graced by Mr. L Brouns the Provincial director of Terre des Homes (TDH) institute in Holland and Nuwara Eliya Mayor Chandana Lal Karunaratne.

Disabled children numbering over 2000 from Batticaloa and Nuwara Eliya districts have benefited from this children’s home during the past 20 years. Many of them with their parents participated in the celebrations while three members of the staff who had served long spells of 18, 19 and 20 years in the service of children here too were feted.
